Key Highlights
Dual Approach
Two distinct environments were developed: a cinematic garage for controlled lighting and dramatic renders, and a custom New York-style city block for large-scale driving simulations.
Realistic Driving Physics
Custom vehicle physics were implemented to simulate weight transfer, acceleration curves, braking forces, and steering response. This allowed the Camaro to behave like a real vehicle under different driving conditions.
AI-Driven Vehicle Behavior
An autonomous system was developed where the Camaro could detect surrounding vehicles, obey traffic signals, adjust speed dynamically, and steer through corners using programmed parameters.
Details
Vehicle Rigging & Setup
The Camaro was rigged in Autodesk Maya with a full joint hierarchy, enabling suspension movement, wheel rotation, and steering animations. This data was then integrated into Unreal Engine.
NPC Architecture
The AI system used environmental detection to calculate speed, braking distance, and steering angles. The vehicle responded to traffic lights, other cars, and cornering conditions in real time.
Environment Composition
The city environment was assembled using assets from Epic Games’ city projects. The layout was customized to create a unique urban block with realistic road networks and building proportions.
Cinematic Lighting & Camera Work
Camera paths, light contrasts, and environmental reflections were carefully designed to enhance the emotional impact of both still renders and animation sequences.
